Welcome! *

Welcome to this page, designed specifically for women to explore issues around Perimenopause and beyond.

It’s great to have you here. Linda

Welcome to an area specifically designed for women [those with biologically female bodies] with a particular focus on Perimenopause (PM), Menopause (M) and the Rest-of-Your-Life (RoYL)©.

This is an area specially designed for you to explore more of what these life stages can mean, with particular emphasis on Mental Health and General Wellbeing – handy really, given that this is my areas of expertise and passion!

I’m part of a #menopauserevolution that seeks to address, challenge, and change current practices, and to normalise and celebrate what has historically been taboo and trivialised in our westernised culture whilst empowering women to take control… and help themselves and others in the process.

Signs and Symptoms

Women typically begin to experience symptoms of PM around the age of 40 onwards, although this can vary by several years in either direction. Are you experiencing any of the symptoms given in the PM and M visuals below?

If you recognise some of these as your lived experience, there are differing ways that I and other health professionals can support you towards navigating these life stages and changes, especially given that:

1 billion women are expected to be in menopause by 2025 with around 70% of those experiencing significant and quite often debilitating symptoms

[as quoted by Dr Wendy Sweet, Phd]

A time like no other:

The Rest-of-Your-Life© (RoYL©)

There have also been significant changes to what I refer to as the Rest-of-Your-Life© (RoYL) which will have a greater impact than at any time in the history of humankind:

The global population of postmenopausal women is growing. In 2021, women aged 50 and over accounted for 26% of all women and girls globally. This was up from 22% 10 years earlier. Additionally, women are living longer. Globally, a woman aged 60 years in 2019 could expect to live on average another 21 years. Menopause can offer an important opportunity to reassess one’s health, lifestyle, and goals.   [World Health Organization]

General Medical practice is doing its best, but knowledge and understanding of these significant life changes and challenges is leaving millions of women believing that they just have to “put up with it”…”it’s just menopause”….or are being given outdated information and interventions.

Taking it further

If you are one of the approximately 70% of women experiencing uncomfortable to debilitating effects of PM/M/RoYL© or think that what you’ve been already told is not helping, please don’t suffer in silence.

If you’re now in the life stage that I’m referring to as RoYL© there can still be ongoing challenges even into our 80s and beyond, so please don’t settle for just “getting on with it”. You might still get to be on planet earth for many decades to come, which is a very long time to navigate the potential health challenges of being a woman of mature vintage. Enough is enough, let’s take control and be empowered in these bodies of ours.
